For a lot of people, coffee is more than just a jolt of caffeine. For some it’s a social opportunity and a quest. And for a few, it’s a near religious experience. If you border on the last there, I have quite an opportunity for you. Father Paddy’s Coffee Cart, located at Gerrard’s Church in Drogheda. Not actually in the church itself, but right outside, surrounded by heavenly views…and birds…lots of birds!

You see, Father Paddy Rushe has always celebrated coffee. And as a way of honouring his late brother and sister, he opened this coffee cart. It’s housed in a repurposed horse trailer and offers coffee in the mornings and in the evenings. And each cup comes with a motivational sticker on it.

While he works fulltime as a priest at nearby Monasterboice, he makes time for coffee. For making it when he can, and for celebrating it from Dundalk to Dun Laoghaire with his own podcast called BeansAndMore.Coffee.

You can hear his commitement to caffeine, and a taste of his podcast in this episode of Erin’s isle.
