Meet the Irish Wolfhounds in Dublin
Irish Wolfhounds are a part of ancient Ireland. Know for being huge, fierce in battle, dependable and loyal, when they aren’t hunting they really are gentle giants. Wayne McMahon knows all about them. You see, he owns 17 of the hounds and he brings them in to Dublin for tours at St.Stephen’s Green. They are magnificent! No one misses this crowd as it makes its way around the park.
“They can be a lot to handle,” he tells the tourists he is matching them with for his tour. “And if they pull and the leashes get tangled, just let go,” he says. “They will always circle and come back to me.”
And with that, he sets out on the tour, telling his group about the breed, and about the history of Dublin as this group makes its way. He brings in 8 at a time with an Irish Terrier named Lady McBeth, and an Irish Setter named Oscar Wild, who help him keep the big dogs in line.
